Remote Terminal (RT) A RT (Remote Terminal) is a fiber extension of the CO so that entities not located near a CO can receive quality voice and DSL capabilities. If customers are going through an RT it means that either they are too far from the CO to receive service or that the distance to the RT is preferred over the distance to the Central Office.
